Repstor to Return to the British Legal Technology Forum

Following the launch of ES/Unity™ at last year’s event, Repstor expects keen interest from both law firms and in-house teams looking to exploit their Office 365 investments for matter lifecycle management

January 29th, 2018 –Repstor, the company that helps businesses exploit their SharePoint and Office 365 investments for matter lifecycle management, has confirmed that it will participate in this year’s British Legal Technology Forum (BLTF) in London. The event will take place on March 13th.

Last year, Repstor made a big splash at BLTF with its launch of ES /Unity™ in partnership with international law firm Eversheds Sutherland. The powerful legal matter management solution, which works with companies’ existing Office 365/SharePoint systems, has attracted a strong client base among corporate legal teams since its launch. National Grid, Wellcome Trust, Queen’s University Belfast, and Miral, an asset management company in the UAE, signed up within the first few weeks, and business continued to be brisk throughout 2017.

This year, the company will showcase its Office 365-native products including Matter Management; Repstor affinity™ the only truly native SharePoint Outlook integration delivering both online and offline access to SharePoint content plus other repositories including M-Files, High-Q, Microfocus Content Manager, OpenText etc; and Repstor assist™, categorisation technology that provides fast and accurate SharePoint email filing as well as other content stores and offers suggested locations based on existing filed content.

Repstor’s products have attracted worldwide interest because they increase return on Office365 and SharePoint investments. In particular by adding case and matter management to Office365, the company has experienced enthusiastic take-up among law firms and corporate legal departments.

Commenting on Repstor’s involvement at BLTF 2018, Alan McMillen, Repstor’s CEO, said, “We can’t wait to return to the British Legal Technology Forum this summer. Last year’s was a pivotal event for Repstor and our strategic partner Eversheds Sutherland. ES/Unity has been fantastically well received by the corporate legal sector. Having added mobile capabilities and exploiting more of the Office365 platform, plus the opportunities that Azure cognitive services (AI) present, we have an exciting portfolio to talk to firms about this year.”

The 2018 British Legal Technology Forum, Europe’s largest legal technology conference and exhibition, will take place on Tuesday, 13th March at London’s Old Billingsgate. Repstor affinity reduces Outlook PST storage & enhances SharePoint collaboration at global automotive supplier Brose

Brose is a large global automotive supplier. Its mechatronic systems for doors, seats
or electric motors and drives can be found in every second new vehicle around the
world today. The company, which is over a century old and is still family owned today,
employs more than 25,000 people across 60 locations in 23 countries.

Brose depends on IT to enable dispersed global teams to collaborate on customer projects.
It means it can field the right knowledge experts without any concerns about location.
The company has 15,000 Microsoft Office users internationally, Exchange mailbox servers sited
in Europe, Asia and North America, and a central SharePoint farm located in Germany.

Despite having central file shares and SharePoint collaboration portals, Brose’s project teams were
defaulting to email to hold and retrieve project-related information and documents, in the form of Outlook
personal folders (PST data files). A lot of time could be spent locating the latest version of content, and the
over-reliance on PST files located on the local network was consuming a lot of expensive storage. Also, if
users were unavailable or left the company, there was no easy way to get at the information held in their
email folders.

This year’s event is being held at Old Billingsgate on October 10th and sees the amalgamation of the London Law Expo and the European Legal Security Forum. The event features 6 presentation stages, 70 expert speakers, 80 exhibitors and an estimated 2,000 visitors from the world of legal practice management, technology and IT security.

Repstor and strategic customer and partner, Eversheds Sutherland, join a line-up of world class speakers to present at 2PM on the Technology Hub stage. The talk entitled, ‘Exploiting Office 365 for Matter Management’, will be presented jointly by Eversheds Sutherland’s Graham Richardson and Repstor’s Sheila Gormley.

Repstor will launch its Office365 for Matter Management campaign featuring its new white paper ‘7 Indisputable Reasons to use Office 365 for Matter Management’. London Law Expo delegates are invited get their complimentary copy from stand A24 or download a PDF here.

CTO of Repstor Fergus Wilson added:

“Office 365 is an existing resource most firms have already invested in, and many of its capabilities are inherently superior to those of dedicated matter management systems. This is largely due to the huge investment Microsoft has made in Office 365, added to the vast ecosystem of Microsoft software partners which are enhancing Office 365 all the time with new, specialist features and integration options.”

Fergus continues, “Our latest campaign will help firms to make the case for selecting Office 365 for complete matter lifecycle management – a move that law firms ranging from large international practices like Eversheds Sutherland to challenger firms like gunnercooke have already made.”

New Repstor paper sets out ‘7 indisputable reasons to use Microsoft 365 as a matter management platform’

Reason 1: It’s where the investment is

September 27th , 2017 – Repstor, the ECM adoption company that helps businesses exploit their SharePoint and Microsoft 365 investments, has published a new paper setting out ‘7 Indisputable reasons to use Microsoft 365 as a matter management platform’, challenging legal teams to look at the software they already have (and use every day) before exposing themselves to the expense and upheaval of deploying a dedicated document management system.

As all law firms and in-house corporate legal teams come under pressure to improve efficiency, measure productivity and collaborate more effectively, interest in systematic content management is rising sharply. But as the new Repstor paper makes clear, there is no need to invest in a dedicated, separate system for this when the vast majority of legal professionals already have established office systems they use routinely for sharing matter-related content.

Although, left unchecked, the popular practice of using email to distribute documents can be inefficient – and consume a lot of computer storage – this can be addressed easily using integrated Microsoft partner solutions which introduce new order and transparency to the way matter content is managed.

Reason 1 to default to Microsoft 365 (M365) for matter management, according to the paper, is the sheer momentum around the platform. M365 user numbers are expected to exceed 100 million by the end of 2017, propelled by heavy investment in the platform by Microsoft as well as its cloud partner ecosystem – estimated to be 10 times larger than Google’s. So it’s a robust platform for legal teams to align their routine processes with.

Other arguments include M365’s impressive feature set, made even richer by partner solutions such as Repstor custodian or ES/Unity which among other things add structure and workflow to email content filing. Then there’s the advanced management reporting, and the inherent security controls. And so on.

But probably the most obvious reason legal teams should centre their matter management on M365 is that it they have already invested in Microsoft technology – and, crucially, users are comfortable with it. As the paper makes clear, “By choosing to buy a distinct content management system for legal matters, firms are incurring unnecessary cost and complexity.”

The SharePoint Provisioning Engine

Need a provisioning engine for your custom Office 365, SharePoint Online and On-Premise solutions? Does customizing your SharePoint sites, creating lists and libraries using the Client-Side Object Model (CSOM) seem like a lot of effort? Instead of spending all that time and effort writing your own, why not use our tried and tested out-of-the-box SharePoint Provisioning Engine.

Our SharePoint Provisioning Engine is written using CSOM (the SharePoint Client-Side Object Model), providing support for SharePoint Online cloud deployments in addition to On-Premise and Hybrid environments. It provides an easy and practical way of getting a well-designed solution quickly deployed on the Office 365 platform, reducing the burden on your IT team.

Our engine performs the creation and set-up of SharePoint site collections, sites and sub-sites, lists/libraries, files and items, as well as content types, workflows, fields, views and many more customizations.

Many SharePoint developers are more familiar with the older Server-Side Object Model (SSOM). However, if you are creating a solution built on top of SharePoint Online that involves this type of provisioning then you will require a provisioning engine written using the Client-Side Object Model. In an On-Premise environment, CSOM is preferable since it provides a clear separation of concerns; your provisioning code will not be executing on the SharePoint server.

Our solution is a flexible, generic provisioning engine. It can be used to customise SharePoint storage structures containing ad-hoc content and metadata. Any custom SharePoint solution which involves the frequent creation of new Site Collections, Sites, Lists, Folders, Files and other content will benefit from the use of this scalable, tried and tested provisioning engine. Repstor has developers who are experts in CSOM and using our provisioning engine means your developers do not need to spend time writing their own while also learning about this new CSOM technology in order to successfully accomplish the task.

Our SharePoint Provisioning Engine is a highly scalable solution with a number of enterprise features such as queuing and templating. Templating can be done either from a pre-generated template or by using an existing live site or list as a template. It provides site provisioning from SharePoint Online with our hosted service in Microsoft Azure, and on-premises via a local installation.

The Repstor SharePoint Provisioning Engine will save your IT team time and minimise troubleshooting, you will be able to deploy updates, which add new functionality or contain bug fixes, easily and quickly to your solutions.

Technical features include:

  • Hierarchical provisioning, multiple levels of sites and sub sites with lists, folders, files
  • Templating from a pre-existing site or list, or a pre-saved offline definition
  • Highly scalable supporting Azure Queues and MSMQ for on-premise
  • Pluggable architecture with many entry points for customization

Contact us today to arrange a demonstration and see how we can help you to easily and quickly build and support SharePoint solutions for Office 365 and On Premise.
